Implementing Early Education on Postpartum Depression in Women with Low-Income

Abstract
The postpartum period is responsible for more than half of maternal deaths, and low-income mothers are at increased risk.
Previous healthcare experience in a women’s health clinic that served both low and high-income populations exposed me to the lack of postpartum depression education that was provided and how many women “normalized” their symptoms.
Without the proper education on the warning signs to be aware of, serious adverse effects from postpartum depression can occur, and there is a lack of evidence of early education on postpartum depression in low-income mothers in the United States.
