Abstract
- Most first aid courses are directed to adolescents and adults but not children.
- This project was intended to educate children on first aid skills and give them confidence in emergent and scary situations.
- Research was conducted to identify what benefits there are to teaching children first aid, what the most beneficial first aid skills are, and what teaching methods should be used to educate children.
- The research findings were then utilized to teach first aid to two different Girl Scout troops in Waukee, Iowa. Brownies: seven to ten years old, Cadettes: twelve to thirteen years old
