Abstract
Research Question:
To what extent can safe sunlight exposure enhance vitamin D production and contribute to osteoporosis prevention?
The identified gap in current osteoporosis prevention strategies is that safe sunlight exposure is often underemphasized during patient counseling compared to supplementation alone. While supplementation remains important and necessary for many individuals, sunlight exposure may provide an additional low cost and accessible strategy to support vitamin D production and overall bone health. Many patients may be more willing to incorporate lifestyle modifications into their daily routine rather than adding another medication, especially since calcium supplementation is often recommended alongside vitamin D therapy.
