Research Question
What is the potential role of GLP-1 receptor agonists in Alzheimer’s and other memory disorders?
Significance
- Current drug treatments focus on targeting one pathologic feature of the disease (Aβ plaque accumulation), which has resulted in limited efficacy in clinical trials.13A treatment to manage Alzheimer’s and other memory disorders needs to focus not just on managing symptoms but slowing the progression of the disease.
- The goal of this project is to investigate the potential role of GLP-1 receptor agonists in Alzheimer’s and other memory disorders and to educate providers on beneficial treatment options to offer their patients.
