Abstract

This project aims to highlight the importance of early intervention, effective patient education, and personalized prevention strategies to reduce the burden of osteoporosis while highlighting the lack of patient education provided to patients.

Osteoporosis is a largely preventable condition that contributes to approximately 8.9 million fractures worldwide each year.1 1 These fractures lead to long-term complications including psychological decline, increased mortality, reduced independence, and nursing home placement.

Osteoporosis affects individuals with risk factors including postmenopausal status, a history of fractures, nutritional deficiencies, and the general aging population. While preventative strategies are effective, research shows a lack of awareness and education among patients.
