Abstract
Rural farming communities have increased health risks due to the environment and their exposure, yet education on these risks is not communicated effectively.
Research topic/question: How can health awareness be increased in rural farming communities through newspapers?
The gap is not in the research, but in the delivery of it. This population may not receive important health information through typical outlets, but they do read the newspaper.
Increasing awareness leads to disease prevention, prolong life, and increased quality of life. This also benefits medical providers by giving them more management options. Also, many PAs encounter rural populations.
The project and articles help this population understand concerning symptoms, how to prevent diseases/illnesses, and understand etiologies. With knowledge comes power, and this knowledge puts the power of their healthcare in their hands.
