Abstract
Hyperhidrosis (HH) is characterized by excessive sweating in response to abnormal stimuli including stress, anxiety, fear, or excitement.
Caused by CNS dysregulation and abnormal response to acetylcholine but sweat glands are fully functional
Chronic disease with onset in childhood or early adolescence requiring need for lifelong treatment
Lack of control of sweating leads to severe physical and psychosocial implications including 4x higher rates of anxiety and patients reporting low or very low quality of life due to unpredictable nature of symptoms.
