Abstract
My daughter has Autism and it took almost three years for her to be diagnosed.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a COMPLEX neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges w/ social interaction, communication, and repetitive behaviors.
Despite the variety of screening and diagnostic tools, many children still experience delayed diagnosis.
Average age of diagnosis is 55 months…….. So why does it take so long?
Global prevalence continues to rise; the CDC estimates 1 in 36 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with ASD.
My project focused on understanding the factors contributing to significant delays in the identification of children with autism and exploring potential solutions to address these barriers.
